Vietnam Overall Project Achievements
- Built 8 new houses for vulnerable households
- Renovated 49 houses
- Built 30 toilets for community members Among all the homeowners, 81% are female. They participated in house design training and attended construction skills, water sanitation, hygiene, and household financial management courses.
- Total families helped in the community: 1,750
Environmental - This project used non-asbestos roof sheeting for new home buildings, roof renovations, and toilets. Habitat provided training, and raised awareness on the risk of using these toxic materials in the community. As a result of this education and training programs, 63,000 people in three districts use nonasbestos materials.
Gender Equality - On average, 54% of beneficiaries were women and girls. We helped women gain a voice in decision-making processes throughout the program.
Climate Change - By empowering community members with the right skills, families can now strengthen their homes in preparation for disasters

“I used to sleep tightly hugging my children because I used to fear the wind blowing the roof away”, said Pramila. “Once during the monsoon, the winds ripped the roof from one side of our shack. All our belongings – television, clothes and food were drenched in rainwater.”
